(Where do the Forkers come from?) J.F. 10/12/2025
In March 2025, after a three-month wait, I finally received my results from the WGS (Whole Genome Test). The result is haplosubgroup I2-BY135483. This means that anyone who has already had a Y-DNA test can see in the I2 family tree at Yfull (https://www.yfull.com/) how far their result (haplogroup) is from our ultimate haplosubgroup.
In conclusion, I would like to say that the haplosubgroup determined for us is unique so far, but it suggests that our Forker ancestors were found in Scotland, Ireland, and Sweden. However, the location refers to the individual haplosubgroup of the test subject, i.e., the time when the individual or personal haplosubgroup was first identified. This usually refers to a period of 500 to 3000 years ago. In our case, 2700 years ago. This timeframe is of little significance for the origin of our Forker ancestors, because my question remains: where did they come from to Langenwolmsdorf before their first recorded mention, i.e., before 1500? However, since it is known that the name Forker already existed in Scotland in 1350 (see our website: Forker.land. Where do the Forkers come from?), proof can only be provided by finding a Forker in Scotland whose ancestors had been living in the area for some time. And indeed, I succeeded in doing this at the beginning of October 2025. Fred Forker, from a larger family around Dunfermline, who can trace their ancestors back to 1600, agreed to a test to determine whether we shared a common ancestor in the period before 1500.
However, the only way to prove this is to find a Forker in Scotland whose ancestors had been living in the area for some time. As recently as October 30th, I was eagerly awaiting the results!
As of mid-December 2025, I now know the outcome of the test conducted on our possible Scottish cousin, Fred Forker. Even an inexpensive test was sufficient to definitively establish that there is no connection between Fred and us, nor between him and our ancestors.
In conclusion, despite intensive research using every available method, I have not yet been able to prove where our ancestors came from around 1400. All that remains is the hope that someone from another Scottish lineage will get tested in the Y-databases and that a match will be found.
